Implementation is where the challenge really begins, the dreams & goals laid out in the agreed concept design are turned into reality.
Implementation of a larger project can be split into a series of specific, measurable, achievable & relevant tasks dependent upon financial limitations.

All implementation work is carried out to best practices standards; see Permaculture ‘Principles & Ethics.

Project Management

We will undertake full project management on your behalf, managing budgets, schedules, work crews and the myriad of variables required on a project.

Equally we will willingly act as consultants if you wish to project manage your design yourself.

Larger projects are better managed by thoroughly developing individual designs within the project. Working with the rhythm of the seasons to an identified work schedule where the most important tasks are prioritised.

We work with licensed sub-contractors for the implementation of specialist works such a tree surgery or groundwork. These sub-contractors work under our guidance on Permaculture best practice.

The video shown is from one of our design implementations in York.

We are happy to undertake full or part implementations of your agreed design.

Maintain - Designs for the Real World

A living ecosystem such as a permaculture design is never finished. Needs change, so do commitments; climate conditions change and elements evolve. A Permaculture design is LOW maintenance, it isn’t NO maintenance. Permanence is not about everything staying the same. It is about stability, about deepening soils and cleaner water, thriving and being self-reliant through biodiversity.

Permaculture system management and maintenance is therefore about creating ‘feedback loops’; a constant process of evaluating, reflecting, redefining our goals, observing changes, re-analysing, redesigning, implementing tweaks and continuously learning and revisiting the cycle.

A Permaculture design framework is a useful, highly versatile tool for managing a natural ecosystem design. It allows us to be adaptable in a world full of uncertainties, as nature doesn’t always work in a linear way like our neat diagrams.

“We can listen to what the system tells us, and discover how its properties and our values can work together to bring forth something much better than could ever be produced by our will alone. We can’t control systems or figure them out. But we can dance with them!” Donella Meadows, author of ‘Thinking In Systems’

We offer a full maintenance program for your design or a consultancy based service assisting you with managing your design.
